Adolescence can be a difficult time. As teens face the physical, emotional, and psychological changes that come with growing up, they can also experience heightened stress, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges. This makes it vital for adolescents to have access to mental health treatment services. At Psycamore, our adolescent-focused program is designed to help young people get the care they need to stabilize emotionally and mentally. Our comprehensive treatment program for adolescents focuses on providing support and resources to empower teens to take control of their mental health.
Does My Teen Need Mental Health Support?
It can be difficult to identify if a teenager needs mental health services so we are here to help! Psycamore’s adolescent mental health program is specifically designed for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17. If family members or friends have noticed a teen experiencing persistent symptoms of any of the following, he/she may benefit from our teen treatment program.
- Depression — sadness, irritability, hopelessness, disturbed sleep/appetite, fatigue
- Stress Disorders — trauma, pain, family dysfunction, and medical illnesses
- Self-medicating for emotional problems
- Anger outbursts
- Disruptive Behaviors
- Mild Pervasive Developmental Disorders
- Eating Disorders
- Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- Self Injury
Our team at Psycamore does not treat intellectual disabilities/challenges, severe psychosis, schizophrenia, physically combative patients, or actively suicidal adolescents.
What Happens in the Teen Mental Health Program at Psycamore?
It all begins with a diagnostic mental health screening to assist our team in developing an individualized treatment plan. This plan guides the treatment process for the teen patient and determines the therapies the individual will be involved in, which may include medical monitoring, individual therapy for teens, family therapy, and group therapy.
An active life is a healthy component of a teenager’s world, so our Adolescent Program provides a structured and organized therapy program for teens designed to work with busy after-school schedules. Group therapies are provided from 4 pm until 7:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Individual and family therapies are scheduled at the convenience of the patient and therapist. If an adolescent requires diagnostic assessments and medication monitoring, these are conducted during regular business hours.
To better support parents, Psycamore offers a weekly group for all the parents of adolescents in our program. We want parents to know that they’re not alone and that others are in the same situation. More importantly, we want to assist parents in developing a support community with others who understand. Participating in a parent group enables one to ask questions, learn new techniques to address a teen’s behavior and mental health problems, and gain the support needed for the recovery journey with the patient.
How Do Mental Health Services Help My Adolescent?
Our treatment for teenage depression, CBT for teenage social anxiety, teenage anxiety treatment, and other programs assist teens in properly managing their mental health. Teens who participate in our program report feeling less anxious and depressed, increased self-esteem, better coping skills, more effective problem-solving skills, and greater resilience in the face of life’s challenges. This commonly leads to improved school performance, improved communication skills, and enhanced overall well-being.
Our team at Psycamore specializes in helping adolescents find relief from their symptoms by offering comprehensive care tailored specifically for them. Our experienced staff and wide range of treatment services can help teens manage their symptoms so they can live the happy lives full of hope and promise they deserve.
