RESTORING MENTAL HEALTH
& RENEWING HOPE

We offer life changing psychiatric mental health outpatient
services to those who are in need

At Psycamore, we understand how difficult it can be to watch a child struggle with mental health issues. With the right care and support, children can work through their mental health concerns and learn how to manage them long-term. That’s why Psycamore has developed comprehensive treatment programs tailored to the individual needs of children and their families. Our treatment program for children offers a variety of services designed to provide both medical and emotional support and healing. Treatment may include medical monitoring, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and family support/parenting groups. Our team’s main goal is to help children manage their mental health issues in a safe and supportive environment.

Who Needs the Child Treatment Program at Psycamore?

If a child is between the ages of 6 and 12 and is experiencing persistent symptoms with any of the following, then the individual may benefit from our mental health treatment program for children

  • Depression — sadness, irritability, hopelessness, disturbed sleep/appetite, fatigue
  • Stress Disorders — trauma, pain, family dysfunction, and medical illnesses
  • Anger Outbursts
  • Mood Swings
  • Disruptive Behaviors
  • Mild Pervasive Development Disorders
  • Eating Disorders
  • Disruptive Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • School Anxiety/Failure
  • Self Injury

Please note that Psycamore does not treat schizophrenia, intellectual disabilities/challenges, severe psychosis, actively suicidal children, or physically combative patients.

What Does a Mental Health Program for Children Involve?

Typically our treatment process will begin with a mental health screening to determine a child’s specific needs with the purpose of developing a comprehensive treatment plan. Diagnostic assessments, such as an ADHD test, and medication monitoring are done during program hours (and on a continual basis, as needed). Once a treatment plan has been established, then we set to work as a team to help the minor patient reach his/her goals.

The main objective is for the child to continue their everyday routine with the addition of a structured and organized therapy program for children. With that in mind, our Child Program is organized with an after-school treatment schedule. Individual and family therapies are scheduled at the convenience of the patient and therapist. Group therapies are provided from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Psycamore also offers a weekly group for the parents of children in the program. Parents learn they are not alone in their concerns for their children – others are in the same situations. Parents are able to ask questions and learn new techniques to help address their child’s behavior problem from a family systems perspective.

How Can Psycamore Help Your Child?

Mental health and behavioral issues can be overwhelming for both children and parents but families do not have to face them alone. At Psycamore, we understand how important it is for both family members and the child themselves to receive comprehensive treatment services throughout the process and we are here for everyone involved. Our Child Program does exactly that – expert medical monitoring paired with tailored individual counseling sessions along with supportive group therapies and family support groups. All of these pieces come together to create an effective healing environment for the family’s journey ahead!
